Will you partner with me?

Dear Friends,
Over the past several years I have had the privilege of offering encouragement and hope to orphans, widows, and the poor throughout Romania. I have been able to work with abandoned infants who have experienced love, as their most basic needs have been met. School age children residing in orphanages have been able to enjoy unforgettable summer camps that introduce them to the God who loves them and has a plan for their lives. Single mothers have gained practical skills that improve their family life, and elderly widows have found hope and joy as they have been introduced to the message of the gospel.
One of the most amazing things to me about ministering in all of these instances has been my ability to bond with those whom I am serving. The fact that I have Cerebral Palsy and walk with the assistance of two canes seems to draw suffering people to me; and open wide doors of opportunity that otherwise would be closed. It is so rewarding to be able to offer support to those who are struggling with limitations and suffering through pain, knowing from personal experience what it is that they are enduring. While my limitations pose many challenges to me in terms of maneuvering in other cultures, the rewards of embracing God’s call and sharing hope with those who feel as though their situations are hopeless, are immeasurable.
This summer, in partnership with International Messengers, I plan to continue this mission of sharing hope with those who feel hopeless, as I once again have the privilege of carrying the gospel message to families in Europe. I plan to return to Romania, and my main focus will be in children’s ministry, leading a VBS type program for children ages 4 to11 in the context of a family camp. Due to the generous gift of a friend, I have already received a significant portion of my support. Additionally, I am seeking 100 ministry partners who would be willing to commit to $20.00 to this project. (A gift of any amount would be greatly appreciated.)
If you are willing to partner with me, please make all donations payable to Saunemin United Methodist Church and put international Messengers on the memo line. Donations may be mailed to Melissa Melvin*13298 N. 3400 East Rd.* Chatsworth, IL* 60921. Please mail all donations no later than Monday, May 11, 2009 to ensure that I receive them before departure.
